Overview

IITM Pravartak is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, and hosted as a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) by IIT Madras. The NM-ICPS is a comprehensive Mission aimed at complete convergence with all stakeholders by establishing strong linkages between academia, industry, Government, and International Organizations.

Cyber-Physical System (CPS) combines digital/ cyber elements with physical objects (e.g., machines, autonomous vehicles) and data with capabilities of communication, data collection & processing, computing, decision making, and action.

Objectives

IITM Pravartak Technology Innovation Hub focuses on new knowledge in the area of SNACS area through extensive and application-oriented research. IITM-PTF gladly takes the role of preparing the young India for the next generation of world-class technologies. The primary activities of IITM-PTF include Technology Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Human Resource Development, and International Collaboration, thus providing an eco-system for technology development and deployment.

  • Technology Development: Through expert-driven research, Consortium based Research through Cluster-Based Network Programmes, directed research for the specific requirements of Industry, other Govt. verticals and International Collaborative Research Programmes.
  • HRD & Skill Development: Through Fellowship Based UG/ PG, Ph.D., Post- Doctoral and Short-Term Training for Faculty.
  • Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Start-up Ecosystem: To enhance competencies, capacity building and training to nurture innovation and Start-up ecosystem.
  • International Collaborations: To establish and strengthen international collaborative research for cross-fertilization of ideas.
